Atlas automatically builds a detailed record of where you have travelled, the places you visited, and how your movements affect visa and tax-residency limits. It combines background tracking, intelligent maps, travel memories, compliance tools, secure document storage, and private sharing across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

• Local-first ownership — Travel history remains on the user’s device unless they deliberately enable private sync, create a backup, or share a selected list.
• Automatic travel tracking — Records countries, stays, and border crossings in the background, with confirmation prompts and reminders to keep the timeline accurate.
• Automatic place journaling — Uses Apple’s on-device visit detection to identify restaurants, hotels, attractions, shops, airports, and other venues. Atlas asks what kind of place you visited, suggests nearby matches, and waits for approval before adding it.
• Interactive travel timeline — Review and edit stays, cities, transport methods, border crossings, dates, photos, and videos. Missed crossings can be detected and added retrospectively.
• Animated journey maps — Replay confirmed crossings as a cinematic map animation, moving through each destination and its associated memories.
• Flyover and location experiences — View photos in their geographic context using Apple Look Around, nearby personal panoramas, or an interactive 3D Flyover with orbit, pitch, rotation, and zoom controls.
• Travel video creation — Export shareable journey videos combining animated maps, destination cards, photos, videos, captions, and gallery sequences. Multiple aspect ratios support Stories, Reels, TikTok, and landscape viewing.
• Complete places management — Save, edit, categorize, rate, merge, search, filter, map, and add media to places. Optional geofence alerts can notify you when entering or leaving selected locations.
• Curated place lists and groups — Build collections by country, region, city, neighbourhood, trip, theme, or personal category. Each list can include selected places, featured images, galleries, filters, and a chosen video cover.
• Private place sharing — Share curated lists through private iCloud collaboration, encrypted nearby iPhone-to-iPhone transfer, AirDrop, Messages, or Files. Choose whether shared copies include images or places only.
• Curated-list videos — Turn a collection of recommended places into a polished map-and-gallery video created entirely on the device.
• Photo and video gallery — A unified library for media attached to stays, crossings, and places, with captions, dates, ratings, city information, location correction, and chronological or grouped browsing.
• Schengen tracking — Continuously calculates the 90-days-in-180 rule, showing days used, days remaining, and when expired days return to the allowance.
• Worldwide visa counters — Tracks allowances for supported countries, automatically identifies relevant countries from travel history, links to rule information, and supports custom visa rules.

• Tax-exposure monitoring — Tracks country-by-country presence against common 183-day thresholds, warns as exposure grows, supports country-specific tax periods, and includes the weighted US Substantial Presence Test and US state-presence reporting.

• Privacy and security — Location and place processing is local-first. Sharing is explicit and optional. Atlas supports Face ID or device authentication, configurable lock timing, Keychain-protected encryption keys, private iCloud sync, and encrypted portable backups.
• Calendar and boarding-pass imports — Scan calendars for likely trips or import boarding passes, then review every suggestion before it is added to the timeline.
• Health integration — Optionally reads steps and walking distance from Apple Health to show activity associated with countries and destinations. Access is read-only.
• AI Travel Concierge — Ask natural-language questions about Schengen days, visa balances, travel history, tax exposure, and future travel plans. Atlas can use Apple’s on-device intelligence, an optional private API configuration, or its built-in rules engine.
